Wai-O-Tapu ~ New Zealand (Aotearoa)

This park is one of the gems in Rotorua’s geothermal wonderland.

The geyser goes off at 10:15 every morning. How is that possible?  These things usually vary!  So as we were all seated to see the geyser, the park naturalist gave us his talk about the history and such and then proceeded to pour a bag of powder into the geyser!  A few minutes later it erupted! I think they must pour in some sort of surfactant on a regular basis to keep it from going off, then pour in something to inactivate the first chemical.  It reminded me of kids making volcanos out of baking soda!
