After the excitement of the Crossing day, it was a bit less exciting to hike out. The walk to the last hut was very pleasant though. Sabrina’s feet were a MESS, blisters and bruises on her heels and toes… So the last day we took the shortest route out and went to the road. Luke took the regular loop trail and fetched the car so he could pick us up. New boots are definitely in the cards for Sabrina…

The interior of a really huge new hut.

Waihohonu Hut, the first hut in NZ, now for display only
Inside it is set up like a small museum
Pebbles in the river
One of the many bridges along the tramps
this was basically our view the whole walk out, so there are lots of pics of Mount Ruapehu!
Sabrina limping along the last few miles… almost there!
