I’ve been to Alaska twice before. Like 90% of visitors, a glimpse of Denali was wished for but never achieved. My hope was for a clear day and views from the train!
And it happened! All day!!
We also saw several moose and a wolf, or maybe it was a fox, nobody was sure. The scenery was great the entire trip. Which makes me wonder what all the trails in summer must look like, and how many exist… so I’m sure I’ll be back to find out!

More beautiful winteriness!

Tripod of the Nenana Ice Classic
Nenana Ice Classic – it costs $2.50 to enter a guess for when the tripod will fall through the ice of the Tanana River. The contest was first run between railroad engineers in 1917. Guesses are down to the minute. The biggest winner was over $360,000! You can enter too: http://www.nenanaakiceclassic.com

Sunset over the Tanana River. You can see the tripod in front of the bridge.
